Wilhelm Leuschner und die Vermessung der Demokratie (Theaterstück & Diskussion)
Democrat, trade unionist, resistance fighter - who was Wilhelm Leuschner?
Democrat, trade unionist, resistance fighter - who was Wilhelm Leuschner?
In the shadow of the military Stauffenberg conspiracy, there was an active underground movement close to the trade unions, without which the attempted coup in 1944 would not have been possible.
Leuschner (born in 1890, executed in 1944) was the head of this underground trade union during the Nazi dictatorship. In a new government after Hitler's death, Leuschner was appointed Vice-Chancellor. The production "Measuring Democracy" brings the impressive life of this committed defender of German democracy to the stage as a play (approx. 70 min.).
By and with Jan Uplegger (drama), Yumiko Tsubali (violin) and Maria Hinze (piano)
In the subsequent panel discussion with Erik von Malottki (Member of the Bundestag 2021-25, local politician) and Marie Dunker (greifswaldfueralle.org), Leuschner's topicality will be questioned.
A joint event of the German Trade Union Confederation, East Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region and the FES Landesbüro MV.
