FARBENBLIND: Texts from the Blue Island
Scholarship holder reading with Everest Girard and Silke Peters
The authors Everest Girard and Silke Peters, who live in M-V, will present texts and photos from their joint scholarship stay in October 2025 in a reading and conversation. Four weeks in Gedser/Lolland Falster have opened up space for creative processes in the International Art Residence BlåØ - on the initiative of the video artist Gudrun Brigitta Nöh and donated by the Rostock women's cultural association Die Beginen e.V.
Everest Girard, born in France in 1982, has lived in Germany for 22 years and has been a freelance author and translator in Rostock since 2016. She writes short stories and poetry and founded the open-air theatre terrain vague together with Claudia Schlegel and David Lorenz in 2022. In 2023, she launched the podcast VERSTRICKT UND ZUGETEXTET with Marion Skepenat. She is currently working on her first novel, for which she has received a working grant from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Silke Peters, born in Rostock in 1967, lives in Stralsund. She is co-founder of the Stralsund reading theatre textrabatt and a mentor and lecturer in the Mentoring Kunst project. Her literary work has been recognised with awards including 2nd place in the Feldkirch/Austria Poetry Prize, working scholarships in Rostock and Ahrenshoop and a working scholarship from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
On 9 May 2025, the Art Residence BlåØ opened as a lively place for art, exchange and international encounters on the cultural bridge over the Baltic Sea. One year later, the project can already look back on a successful and eventful first year. With the scholarship holders Everest Girard and Silke Peters, we also present this special place with many photos.
BlåØ stands for lively dialogue, artistic diversity and the power of international connections - across borders.
