SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN – a dance theatre production by the JugendTanzCompany Kunstwerkstätten Greifswald
Between childhood and adulthood: seven dancers use movement, music and their own texts to tell stories of love, friendship, pressure, crises and the search for one’s true self.
Who am I – and who do I want to become? “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN” tells the story of a phase of life full of changes, questions and contradictions. Seven girls aged 14 and 15 from the JugendTanzCompany at the Kunstwerkstätten Greifswald bring their own experiences and thoughts to the stage. Choreographer Julia Gläser combines contemporary dance and dance theatre with songs and texts she has written herself. The piece explores friendship and first love, self-doubt, beauty ideals, bullying and academic pressure, as well as concerns about war and climate change. Balancing playfulness with seriousness, humour with lyricism, the result is a personal piece about growing up and the desire to be heard.
