taz panter election arena Greifswald

What really moves Mecklenburg-Vorpommern? Live episode of the podcast "Mauerecho" with Dennis Chiponda and guests.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the heat of the election campaign: What is driving the state, which conflicts are shaping the campaign, and who will determine its political future? The taz Panter Foundation and STRAZE Greifswald are hosting the taz panter Election Arena on 3 July 2026 – a live episode of the Mauerecho podcast – to address these questions. In the debate, leading politicians will answer questions from the people of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. After all, the election campaign should be about the citizens, not just about politics. Yet it is precisely these citizens who are often overlooked. We want to change that. Which is why we’re involving the audience in the debate.

Dennis Chiponda, presenter of the ‘Mauerecho’ podcast, will be hosting the evening. The focus will be on the key issues of the state election campaign in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: social inequality, low wages, infrastructure problems, tourism, energy policy, as well as democracy, polarisation and how to deal with the AfD.

Joining us will be Beatrix Hegenkötter (SPD), Claudia Müller (Alliance 90/The Greens) and Torsten Heil (CDU).

From 6 pm, we will be opening the exhibition ‘Despite everything! Post-migrant youth are making waves in the East’.

The ‘Wahlarena’ begins at 7 pm and runs until 8.30 pm. The evening will then draw to a close at 9 pm.

The event will be recorded live and can be listened to afterwards. Attendance is free of charge but requires registration via pretix (https://pretix.eu/straze/taz-panter/).

Do come along and have a chat with the politicians who will help shape the future of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

A continuing education event organised by STRAZEkultur at the Kultur- und Initiativenhaus Greifswald e.V. in collaboration with the taz Panter Foundation.
