commemorating the victims of National Socialism

Shortly after the fall of the Iron Curtain, New York music journalist Ruth Rothwax (LENA DUNHAM) travels to Poland with her father Edek (STEPHEN FRY) to get to the bottom of her Jewish family's legacy. For Edek, a Holocaust survivor, it is the first trip back to the places of his childhood. While Ruth is determined to better understand her parents' traumas, the ever-amused Edek wants to let bygones be bygones. So he sabotages Ruth's plans and causes more than one unintentionally hilarious situation. During this eventful week, the two uncover old family secrets.
