1774 Von der Klassik in die Romantik - von Greifswald in die Welt
Concert on historical instruments with the ensemble La Récréation
1774: Beethoven is four years old, the young Mozart is struggling to make the transition from child prodigy to independent composer, the great German composers are Christoph Willibald Gluck and Joseph Haydn.
Louis XVI becomes King of France, Goethe publishes "The Sorrows of Young Werther", Stralsund-born Carl Wilhelm Scheele has just discovered oxygen - and Caspar David Friedrich is born in Greifswald.
The concert 1774 shows Caspar David Friedrich's musical environment, beginning in the year of his birth and leading up to the modern era.
The musicians play on replicas of original 18th century instruments made by the Dresden instrument maker family Grenser and the Viennese grand piano maker Anton Walter.
