Der Eisblumenwald

Music theater for people aged 6 and up Stage version and music by Jörn Arnecke based on the children's book of the same name by Jörg Steiner

"Our country is a rich country. And yet we are a poor country."

The kingdom of Amun is growing, but the land is dying. Princess Salicha has to watch as all the plants wither and the water becomes increasingly scarce. Something has to be done about this and her friend Samir has an idea. Together, the two set off on a dangerous journey to the South Pole. They want to bring an iceberg to the desert city by ship so that there is enough water again. Can they succeed in this difficult task and solve the problem of the kingdom?

In 2019, composer Jörn Arnecke created the music and stage version of the play "Der Eisblumenwald", which had its successful world premiere in Weimar. Four soloists and a small instrumental ensemble, consisting of flute, violin, viola, trombone and double bass, perform this fairytale-like morning and afternoon, which deals with the topic of climate change, encourages people to think and participate and shows that everyone has the ability to change the world.
