The author is coming to Greifswald on 30 September 2026, and we’re inviting school classes to come along!

Lenni and Serkan are best friends. Writing about white privilege as a white young adult author – this was the challenge Kathrin Schrocke set herself for her latest book, and she began by conducting extensive research. About white fragility and her own deep-seated racism. For the author is convinced that, due to their social conditioning, white people simply cannot help but be racist. Schrocke weaves her insights into a young adult novel that is equally suited to the classroom and can be devoured in one sitting – in *White Tears*, the author tells a story of friendship, love, life, death and everyday racism in a style that is simple yet deeply moving.
