Brecht at Last
Brecht is right about what he told – and sang – to us ninety years ago. It rings in our ears; it stirs us and keeps us alert. That is why we say, ‘Brecht now, more than ever’.
Brecht’s texts – stimulating, powerful, thought-provoking, humorous, alarming, stirring and satirical – strike a chord with us today more than ever. Our literary concert – this remarkably entertaining evening – was created in 2023 to mark the 125th anniversary of the great poet and playwright’s birth.
We have performed to a variety of audiences, all of whom have been delighted. For this reason, and because this August marks the 70th anniversary of Brecht’s death, we have revisited his words and expanded our programme to include a few more passages and songs: ‘Brecht now more than ever!’
Hedwig Golpon and Benjamin Saupe hope you enjoy the show.
