With his ‘Christmas Love Songs’ programme, which has been celebrated for 17 years, tenor Björn Casapietra has been delighting audiences in sold-out churches and theatres. Together with pianist Peter Forster, he presents an atmospheric Christmas concert full of contemplation, passion and hope.

The programme brings together the most beautiful German, Italian, French and Celtic Christmas carols. The programme features classics such as ‘Adeste Fideles’, ‘Es ist ein Ros entsprungen’, ‘Cantique de Noël’, ‘Still, still, still’ and ‘Guten Abend, gut Nacht’, which evoke memories of Christmas from childhood.

A medley of popular German Christmas carols such as ‘Süßer die Glocken nie klingen’, ‘O du Fröhliche’, ‘Leise rieselt der Schnee’ and ‘O Tannenbaum’ invites the audience to sing along, as does the well-known ‘Sind die Lichter angezündet’. The programme is rounded off by works such as ‘Tochter Zion’, ‘Ombra mai fu’, ‘Bist du bei mir’, Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Sound of Silence’, Bonhoeffer’s ‘Von guten Mächten wunderbar geborgen’ and Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’.

For Björn Casapietra, music – particularly at Christmas – symbolises hope, comfort and confidence. With his unmistakable tenor voice, he aims not only to delight the ears but, above all, to touch the hearts of his audience and create unforgettable concert moments. Together with Peter Forster, they will create a festive evening that moves the audience and brings the magic of the Christmas season to life in a special way.
