Guided tour of the Karrendorf meadows
Together, we’ll explore the rare salt grasslands of this unique coastal floodplain in the National Natural Heritage Site near Greifswald.
Surrounded by wind, water and the vast sky, you’ll learn more about the dynamics of the coastal landscape and its unique flora and fauna.
In summer, numerous migratory birds from the north stop off here. Waders such as the curlew sandpiper and the common sandpiper forage for food in the shallow waters, whilst terns hunt over the water. With a bit of luck, you may also spot breeding birds such as oystercatchers, redshanks and lapwings.
The excursion lasts around two hours and is led by volunteers from the Michael Succow Foundation.
