Exhibition opening at the MEERESMUSEUM
On 28 May, the special exhibition "Otto Dibbelt's Dream: A Nature Museum for Stralsund" opens at the MEERESMUSEUM site.
75 years ago, on 24 June 1951, Otto Dibbelt founded the "Natur-Museum" in Stralsund, from which today's German Oceanographic Museum with its four locations MEERESMUSEUM, OZEANEUM, NATUREUM and NAUTINEUM emerged in the 1960s.
The exhibition in the anniversary year invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beginnings of the museum. In 1951, Otto Dibbelt opened a nature exhibition with numerous exhibits from his private collections in the rooms of the former Dominican monastery of St Katharinen.
