Reform or revolution? The present and future of academic publishing
Public panel discussion
The panel discussion will discuss questions and solutions on how a science-based publication culture can flourish beyond the large publishing houses. Various interdisciplinary and practical perspectives will be brought together in order to understand existing dynamics within the academic publishing system and to discuss sustainable publication channels in academia using examples of good practice. The aim of this event is to enter into dialogue with the broadest possible audience of scientists at all career levels and the interested public about the future of the scientific publication system and to raise awareness of the potentials and uncertainties of non-profit publication processes. The event is a cooperation between the Heisenberg Professorship for the History of Knowledge at the University of Greifswald's Institute of History and Greifswald University Library.
