Treasure on the coast - Drammendorf polder on Rügen
Insights into renaturation, utilisation and ongoing investigations
Monday 16 March - 11:00-13:00
As part of the "Treasure on the Coast" nature conservation project, the approximately 100-hectare Drammendorf polder in the south-west of Rügen was renaturalised and a formerly dyked bay reconnected to the natural flooding regime of the Kubitzer Bodden. Today, the area is used extensively and is also part of a current research project on moorland climate protection on the Baltic coast. During the excursion, those involved will provide insights into renaturalisation, use and ongoing investigations into greenhouse gas and nutrient exchange.
