Just one word
Evening service at the end of the semester in the tradition of the Liturgy of the Hours with university preacher Prof Dr Tobias Braune-Krickau and Prof Dr Matthias Schneider
With the fourth and last university service in the series under the motto "More - Enough", we want to celebrate the end of the lecture period together this winter semester.
Once again with lots of music, this time we will celebrate in the special form of an evening service based on the so-called prayer of the hours or times of the day. Traditionally, these prayers are based on the cycle of the day, the alternation of waking and sleeping, light and darkness, work and rest. In the evening, such a prayer marks the end of the past day, the turning in and coming to rest after work and the experiences that the day has brought and the preparation for a new day.
Similarly, in the academic rhythm, we are just before the end of the lecture period and still at the very beginning of a new year.
Exams are coming up, assignments are waiting to be written, the lecture-free period needs to be planned and used for everything that could not find enough space and time during the semester. The new year lies ahead of us.
In the service, we therefore want to look back on the winter semester and the past year, find a moment of reflection, draw a little strength and get ready together and create space for all the things that await us in the time ahead.
The studio choir of the Institute of Church Music and Musicology will be there again, this time additionally supported by a small schola choir from the student body, which will accompany and frame the service with liturgical chants from the Liturgy of the Hours tradition.
It is well worth a visit.
Admission is of course free, everyone is welcome!
