Immerse yourself in the world of vibrant colors and gentle gradients! Watercolor painting fascinates with its lightness, transparency and endless creative possibilities.

In this course, you will learn the basics step by step and gain your own experience in using colors, water and brushes. From classic techniques such as wet-on-wet and glazing to playful experiments - we explore the whole variety of watercolor and develop personal painting ideas. On the one hand we work according to specific instructions, on the other hand there is plenty of room for free and creative design. Depending on the interests and needs of the participants, the course can be adapted flexibly. At the end of the course, you will have an individual collection of watercolor works in your hands.

Anyone who would like to try out watercolor painting and exchange ideas with others in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere is welcome. No previous knowledge required.

The 8-part course starts on Tuesday 13.01.2026 and always takes place from 18:00 to 20:00. The last day of the course will be 17.03.2026.

About the course instructor: I am Paula Straub and I have been painting for as long as I can remember. I studied art and design to become a teacher and bring both artistic experience and didactic knowledge to my painting practice.

Please bring: Watercolor box (watercolors & color palette), brushes in different sizes (round and flat brushes), portfolio (A3-A4), possibly your own image material that you would like to implement.

Provided will be: Watercolor paper in various sizes, additional paper for preliminary sketches and exercises, additional watercolor brushes within a limited framework, masking tape, water container, material for experimental methods, image and information material. Material costs of 10 euros per person are payable to the course leader.

Registration for the course is mandatory and can be made via the website www.vhs-vg.de or in person at the vhs.
Courses offered by the Volkshochschule Vorpommern-Greifswald are aimed at people aged 14 and over.
