"Zwei Arten zu sein, drei Arten zu sein" Körper und Selbst in den Bildern der österreichischen Malerin Maria Lassnig
as part of the series Psychoanalysis & Art with psychoanalyst Christoph Walker (Tübingen)
Maria Lassnig is considered one of the most important painters of the 20th century. With her "Body Awareness Paintings", she found her own way between abstraction and figuration. Through intensive self-observation of her own condition, she expressed physical sensations using artistic means (painting, graphic art, animated film and sculpture). In numerous self-portraits, the artist staged herself in sometimes drastic ways, as a dumpling, a calculator or a frog queen.
Seeing a picture is inevitably linked to an invitation to turn one's gaze inwards, to look into the inner world.
This will be related in the lecture to psychoanalytical considerations on Maria Lassnig's work with the "psyche-soma problem", the interplay between psychological stress and physical complaints.
Lecture & public discussion
Organised by the IPPMV together with the M-V regional association of the DGPT in cooperation with the Koeppenhaus.
