Johann Sebastian Bach: Cantata I from the Christmas Oratorio, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: Magnificat

On the evening of 20 December, at 6 pm, Cantata No. 1 of Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio is on the program, this time in the unabridged original version. This will be preceded by the Magnificat by Bach's son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The Magnificat is Mary's song of praise, a response to the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel, who announces the birth of the infant Jesus to Mary through the Angel Gabriel. The Magnificat in D major is one of his most important sacred vocal works.
The Greifswald Cathedral Choir, soloists and the Greifswald Bach Week Orchestra will perform under the direction of Frank Dittmer.
Tickets for 25 euros / reduced price 10 euros are available in advance from the Scharfe bookshop, the Institute for Church Music and at the box office in the cathedral.
