Der Zauberer von Oz
Christmas tale (5+), based on Lyman Frank Baum by Thomas Birkmeir
"There's no place like home!" A hurricane takes little Dorothy and her dog Toto to Oz, a fantastic world full of strange creatures, mysterious laws and secrets. But Dorothy longs for her home. On her adventurous journey, she meets a scarecrow without brains, a tinny woodcutter without a heart and a lion without courage. Together they make their way to the legendary Emerald City - where the great Wizard of Oz is said to live, who can supposedly grant them all their wishes. But as is so often the case, the real magic lies not in distant cities or mysterious wizards, but in the power of friendship: the companions take us on a journey about solidarity, self-confidence and the feeling we commonly describe as home.
With "The Wizard of Oz", Lyman Frank Baum created a timeless fantasy world in 1900. Today, the children's book is considered one of the great classics of American literature. In countless adaptations for film and stage, the hero's journey of little Dorothy and her imperfect friends has captivated generations.
