Greifswalder Europagespräch „Ukraine und Europa. Auswege aus der Eskalation?“
War against Ukraine: How to deal with old wounds, create peace and show solidarity?
This time, the Europa-Union Vorpommern-Greifswald welcomes Prof. Dr. Roman Dubasevych. He has headed the Chair of Ukrainian Cultural Studies and currently the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Greifswald for several years and is intensively involved with Ukrainian society and culture.
Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine dominates the headlines and seems to leave many of us perplexed. Is this a battle with no way out? We often overlook how deep old wounds, traumatic experiences and narratives have a decisive influence on the thoughts and actions of the parties to the conflict. How can we deal sensitively with these often invisible scars in order not only to discuss military or political strategies, but also to develop visions of sustainable peace? What is the right way to shape solidarity with Ukraine on the ground and in Europe?
