CinemaOnSails: TRANSIT

Georg flees from the occupation to Marseille, where he assumes the identity of a deceased writer in order to obtain a visa to leave the country. While he is stuck in the meantime, he meets the dead man's wife - without her knowing who he really is.

Based on the novel by Anna Seghers, Christian Petzold relocates the action to present-day Marseille. Without any historical backdrops, he tells a timeless drama about flight, identity and life in limbo.
With restrained staging, precise imagery and impressive actors, Transit creates an intense cinematic experience.
