Exhibition: ‘WE ARE OCEAN: Blueprint for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’
The special exhibition “WE ARE OCEAN: Blueprint Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania” brings together contemporary art, marine research and education at the MEERESMUSEUM.
It opens up new perspectives on people, the sea and the importance of ‘blue’ climate protection.
The pop-up exhibition focuses on seagrass beds – fascinating yet endangered key ecosystems along the sandy coasts of the Baltic Sea. For the first time, works created as part of the nationwide ‘Blaupausen’ programme series are being presented in Stralsund. Combined with current works by international artists, these offer new perspectives on the themes of marine conservation, climate change and social responsibility. Pupils from the ‘Windland’ Regional School on Rügen have also explored the theme of seagrass artistically in workshops and are presenting their own contributions. The exhibition invites visitors to see the local Baltic Sea through fresh eyes and to discover the importance of healthy marine ecosystems for our future.
From 9 July, the exhibition will be on display on the mezzanine floor of the MEERESMUSEUM. The accompanying fishbowl discussion in the Schildkrötengebäude on 9 July offers an opportunity for joint discussion.
