Ida Meidell Blylod and Johan Hedin create atmospheric soundscapes on the baroque violin and nyckelharpa. The duo is known for its personal interpretations of old Swedish dance and song traditions. The music has its origins in the 18th century and combines influences from folk and baroque music, interweaving the raw energy of gut strings and dance rhythms with the elegance of early music. Ida's diverse playing style and Johan's innovative way of accompanying create a captivating concert experience. Ida Meidell Blylod is a folk musician and baroque violinist from Umeå. She uses the wide expressive spectrum of the violin with great passion and sometimes also sings. She has performed on many European folk and baroque stages and has been engaged several times as a lecturer for international courses. Johan Hedin is originally from Småland and is a worldwide favourite on the nyckelharpa. His curiosity to discover new sounds of the instrument and his multi-faceted playing have already led him to many exciting collaborations. The nyckelharpa (keyed harp) is a string instrument that originally dates back to the Middle Ages. The strings of the instrument are shortened mechanically using keys. Since the Baroque period, the nyckelharpa has been played almost exclusively in Sweden, but its versatility means that it has now also found its way into other genres outside of Swedish folklore.
