Due Greifswald city center set in scene

The "Greifswald New Year's Lights" event will transform Greifswald's city center into an atmospheric world of light and sound on 4 January 2026 between 3 and 8 pm. The shopping street and side streets will be brought to life with interactive light installations, fire shows, walking acts and window displays. Selected buildings will be staged with targeted façade lighting.
The highlights include a light art trail from Mühlentor to Westend with four stations, video projections in the event area at five locations and illuminated building facades that create a uniform, atmospheric ambience in a wide variety of color shades along the shopping street. At the Mühlentor location, a fire artist will put on two shows. There will be a children's program right at the start of the event; in the evening there will be his big fire show with musical accompaniment.
The stores in the old town will also be open from 3 pm to 8 pm.
