The Advent garden for young and old
in the Michael-Kirche, Niels-Bohr-Str. 22
The Advent garden:
A spiral of fir greenery is laid in the centre of the room. There is a large candle in the centre. While the Advent carols are played and can be sung along to, first the children and then the adults walk along the spiral to the centre with an apple containing a candle and light the candle there. On the way back, they place this candle on one of the gold stars decorating the spiral. The room becomes brighter with each light.
In November, the dark season begins, we go more into ourselves and nature also withdraws inwards. It is possible for us humans to overcome the darkness from within ourselves and carry our light into the world.
In the often very hectic and stressful pre-Christmas period, the Advent garden gives us a space of peace and anticipation for Christmas.
